Jason DeVore grew up in Indiana in a religious household where gospel, blues, and folk music were part of the background. He started playing local open mics and coffeehouses before putting out his first album, "The Long Way Home," in 2012.
His song "Call Out" became a breakout single that connected with listeners. He's released a few albums since then, including "The Outsider" in 2018 and "Against the Grain" in 2021. Other songs like "Hey Kid" and "The Crooked Path" show his tendency toward introspective writing.
DeVore has worked with a small group of musicians including Eric Robinson on guitar, Brian Clark on drums, Max Roberts on bass, and Amy Carter on backing vocals. He's been open about dealing with mental health and addiction issues, which sometimes surfaces in his material.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
