Javiera Barría

Javiera Barría is a Chilean singer-songwriter from Santiago. She started playing music as a teenager with a band called Las Primas, drawing from folk and Latin American traditions like those of Violeta Parra and Mercedes Sosa.

Her song 'Abandono' from the 2011 album 'Canto al agua' became her breakthrough track. The song's direct lyrics about loss and longing connected with listeners, helping establish her solo career. Other songs like 'Al Partir' and 'Ciego, Nudo Y Desenlace' show her continued focus on emotional, personal writing.

In 2015, Barría was diagnosed with breast cancer and continued performing during treatment.
