Jaxzao is a Brazilian band formed by vocalist and guitarist Thiago Soares and bassist and producer Leo Chaves. Their music tends toward atmospheric soundscapes with introspective lyrics, heard on songs like "insônia" and "Valores."
They released a debut EP called "Insônia" that established their approach with dreamy guitars and pulsing rhythms. Later albums included "Noites em Claro," which dealt with themes of loss and solitude, and "Despertar," which moved toward a more hopeful sound.
Early on, some critics found their music too esoteric or depressing, but they kept working in that vein. In 2021, there was a plagiarism accusation around their song "Inverno," though it was eventually dismissed.
