JD Natasha was a Brazilian pop collective from São Paulo that formed in the early 1980s. Their debut album 'Plástico' came out in 1983, anchored by the title track that became their signature song. The group included Jackeline de Souza on lead vocals, Natasha Rodrigues on keyboards and backing vocals, Paulo Almeida on bass, and Pedro Souza on drums.
Their music often touched on topics that weren't common in mainstream Brazilian pop at the time, with lyrics addressing sexuality and social issues. This approach, combined with their unconventional stage costumes featuring plastic materials, drew both attention and criticism from more conservative circles. They followed 'Plástico' with albums like 'Pólvora e Perfume' in 1986 and 'Colapso' in 1989, the latter reflecting some of Brazil's social and economic tensions during that decade.
Other songs in their catalog include 'Tan Cerca,' 'Barbie de plástico,' '10 Mil,' and 'Dime.' Their final studio album 'Oitavo Céu' arrived in 1992, showing a more introspective side before the group's activity wound down.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
