Jean Carlos Canela, who performs as Jean Carlos, was born in Bayamón, Puerto Rico in 1981. He started singing in a school choir as a kid and got his first recording deal in 2003. His debut album 'Incógnito' came out the next year.
In 2005, his single 'Complicado' became a chart-topper in Puerto Rico and helped him reach a wider audience. He followed it with albums like 'Por Amor o Por Castigo' in 2007 and 'Sentimientos' in 2012.
He's worked mostly as a solo artist but has recorded with other Puerto Rican musicians including Alexis y Fido and Zion & Lennox.
