JEC Banda formed in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, with three friends named Jairo, Edson, and César. They started playing local bars and festivals before working with producer Guto Graça Melo in 1994.
That year they released their debut album, also called "Eu Vi o Amor Reinar." The title track became their most recognizable song.
Their later albums included Ao Vivo em Porto Alegre, Essência, Acústico, Vida Real, and Pra Sempre.
