João Batista da Silva, known as Jeca Mineiro, was born in the countryside of Minas Gerais in 1934. He partnered with Luiz Carlos da Silva, or Luizinho, and they began performing at local festivals and fairs in the early 1960s.
Their song 'Pé Vermelho' came out in 1970 and became a hit. It's a ballad about rural life, and it helped them reach a national audience. Other songs from that period include 'A Dama de Vermelho' and 'Flor Dos Meus Sonhos'.
They released albums like 'O Mineiro e o Paulista' in 1971 and 'Terra Boa' in 1973.
