Jed Marum grew up in Kilcar, County Donegal, where he started writing songs early after hearing traditional Irish musicians like Christy Moore and Luke Kelly. He plays fiddle and accordion alongside guitar.
His 2009 debut album 'Star of the Country Down' included the title track that became his best-known song. He followed it with albums in 2012, 2016, 2019, and 2022.
In 2015, vocal cord nodules interrupted his singing for a time. He returned to performing after that, and his band has included Michael Boyle on piano, Eamon Curran on bass, and Ciaran Doherty on drums.
