Jedaje formed in Salvador, Bahia in 1995 with Milena Mendonça on vocals, Wagner Justino on guitar, Ricardo Feghali on bass, and Marcelo Mamona on drums. They worked in a mix of samba, reggae, rock, and funk, and released their first album in 1997.
Their 2005 album gave them the song "O Recomeço de Todos," which became their most recognized track. The band kept recording through at least 2010, with percussionist Adriano "Serginho" Alves joining around 2002.
Some of their performances drew attention for being provocative, but they kept playing. Their music found listeners who responded to its energy and blend of styles.
