Jefferson

Jefferson was a Brazilian band that formed in Rio de Janeiro in the early 1970s, led by vocalist Edmundo "Ed" Souto. They released several albums including their self-titled debut in 1973 and "Errei" in 1978, which gave them their most recognizable song. Their music blended soul and funk with Brazilian rhythms, and they were known for Souto's emotional vocal delivery.

Their song "Errei" became particularly well-known, capturing feelings of regret and forgiveness that connected with listeners. Other tracks like "Funk" and "Mas eu tenho você" showed their range within their soulful style. They performed live shows that were noted for their intensity, including a 1979 concert recorded at Canecão.

Like many artists of that era in Brazil, they faced some censorship and pushback for lyrics that touched on social themes. The band had its share of internal tensions over creative direction and management issues. They continued releasing music into the 1980s with albums like "Tempo de Paz" in 1984.
