She was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1986, grew up on Long Island, New York, and studied at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. On the show, her character was known for a quirky personality and love of musical theater, and Ushkowitz performed covers of songs by artists like the Beatles and Lady Gaga.
