Jenni Vartiainen started writing songs as a teenager in Kuopio, Finland. She signed with EMI Finland in 2005 and released her debut album 'Ihmisten Edessä' two years later. That record won Album of the Year at Finland's Emma Gaala awards.
Her second album 'Seili' came out in 2010, featuring the single 'Missä Muruseni On?' which became one of her most recognizable songs. Other tracks like 'En Haluu Kuolla Tänä Yönä' and 'Suru on kunniavieras' show her tendency toward emotionally direct writing, sometimes touching on difficult subjects.
In 2012 she had to cancel concerts due to a vocal cord hemorrhage. She kept working after that, though the existing history doesn't specify what came next. Her catalog includes songs like 'Olet Valveilla' and 'Junat Ja Naiset' that Finnish listeners know well.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
