Jens Bjrneboe

Jens Bjørneboe was a Norwegian writer and musician born in 1920. He formed a band under his own name in the late 1950s, creating music with socially conscious lyrics that reflected his concerns about war and morality.

His most famous song, 'Ballad of Hiroshima Town,' came out in 1959. It describes the aftermath of the atomic bombing with direct, unsettling imagery of shattered buildings and radiation sickness. The song became known internationally for its anti-war message.

He kept writing and performing until his death in 1976, leaving behind recordings like 'Tilbake til start' from 1966 and 'Jens Bjørneboe synger Jens Bjørneboe' from his final year.
