His vocal style had a raw, powerful quality that drew from blues and rock. The band released several albums through the late 1970s and into the 1980s, including 'Mama Let Him Play' in 1977 and 'Doucette III' in 1979.
Personal struggles with alcohol and drugs led to periods of inactivity, but he continued performing and recording. A compilation called 'The Best of Jerry Doucette' came out in 1997.
