Archive material and source history
Jerry Harrison was a founding member of Talking Heads, the band he started with David Byrne, Chris Frantz, and Tina Weymouth in 1975. He played guitar and contributed to their songwriting during their run, which lasted until 1991.
After Talking Heads ended, Harrison worked on solo material. His 1988 album 'The Red and the Black' included 'Man With a Gun,' a track that became one of his better-known songs outside the band. He also released 'Rev It Up' around that period.
He studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, where he first met Byrne. Before that, he grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
