Jessy Mirlo formed in Guadalajara in 2014 with vocalist and guitarist Jessy Cervantes, bassist Oscar Pimentel, drummer Fernando Moreno, and keyboardist Francisco Ugarte. Their sound drew from Mexican folk and alternative rock with some electronic touches.
In 2018 they released "Deja Que Corra," which became a viral hit and brought them international attention. Their debut album "Colores" came out the following year.
In 2020 there were plagiarism accusations about "Deja Que Corra" being similar to a traditional Mexican folk song. The band denied this, saying they respected artistic integrity. Their music kept evolving with elements of traditional Mexican son.
