Jhonblack came up in the late 1990s rock scene with a sound built around raw energy and Jhon Black's vocals. Their debut single "Ahora Sí" caught on quickly, becoming something of an anthem with its driving beat and guitar work. The band lineup at that point included guitarists Randy and Tony, bassist Nico, and drummer Manu.
Things got complicated after that initial success. Touring wore on them, and there were reports of substance issues and creative friction within the group. In 2002, Jhon Black was arrested on drug possession charges, which pushed the band out of the public eye for a while.
They did put out more music after their debut, including the albums "Corazón Negro" and "Sangre y Fuego." Songs like "Cuando Te Deja Sola" and "Déjame Quererte" kept their name in circulation, even as the band's story became less about constant output and more about that earlier, messy period.
