Jim Capaldi was born in Evesham, England in 1944. He played drums and sang in Traffic, a band he formed with Steve Winwood and Chris Wood in 1967. Their music mixed blues, rock, and psychedelia, and Capaldi wrote songs like "Feelin' Alright" for the group.
After Traffic ended in 1975, he started making solo records. His first album was called "Short Cut Draw Blood," and it had a song called "Love Hurts" that got played a lot on rock radio. In 1980 he put out "Old Photographs," which became his best-known work. The title track is a slow, reflective song about looking back at old relationships.
Other songs from his solo years include "Anna Julia" and "Man with no country." He kept writing and recording until his death in 2005.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
