Jimmy Dawkins

Jimmy Dawkins was born in Tchula, Mississippi in 1936 and moved to Chicago as a teenager, where he soaked up the city's blues scene. He started out playing as a sideman for other artists before putting out his first album, 'Fast Fingers', in 1969. That record introduced his sharp guitar work and a song like 'Little Angle Child', which became a staple for him.

His discography includes albums like 'All for Business' from 1971 and 'Blistered' the following year, along with later releases such as 'Feel the Blues' and 'Cool Disposition'. Dawkins often recorded with a loose group of Chicago players, but his sound stayed rooted in straightforward, electric blues. He died in 2020 at age 83.
