Jimmy Jones had a hit with "Good Timin'" in 1964. The song reached the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100. He also recorded tracks like "Handyman" and "Do It Again."
He was born James Edward Jones Jr. and started out in New Orleans. His first album, "Jimmy Jones and the Jones Boys," came out in 1963. Later records included "On the Road Again" in 1966 and "The Changes" in 1968.
In 1968, Jones was arrested for marijuana possession. He struggled with alcohol and drugs around that time, which affected his band and his work.
