JM Puxado

JM Puxado was born in 1957 in Rio Largo, a town in Brazil's northeast. He started performing locally, drawing from the traditional sounds around him. In 1982, he teamed up with guitarist and vocalist Zé de Almeida, and they began working as a duo under Puxado's name.

Their song 'Morena Linda' came out in the late 1980s and caught on widely. It's a straightforward romantic number that became something of a standard in the region. They've also recorded tracks like 'Se Tem Ciúmes Tem Amor' and 'Estilo Vaqueiro,' which fit within the forró and baião styles common in the area.

The duo has kept a fairly steady lineup with Zé de Almeida. They've worked with other musicians at times, including accordionist Cleytinho Romano. Their recordings tend to feature the rhythms and melodic patterns typical of northeastern Brazilian music, without much fuss or dramatic reinvention.
