João Cavalcanti e Marcelo Caldi

João Cavalcanti and Marcelo Caldi first started working together in the early 1990s after meeting while performing in São Paulo. They released their self-titled debut album in 1996. Cavalcanti came from Recife, while Caldi grew up in Rio de Janeiro.

Their music draws from various Brazilian traditions and styles, with Cavalcanti often writing the lyrics. They've performed with artists like Chico Buarque, Caetano Veloso, and Gilberto Gil. One of their songs, "Domingos," appears among their most recognized work.

Some critics initially found their sound too eclectic, and more recently their music has sparked debate about political and social themes. They've continued releasing albums, including A Vida Inteira in 2001 and A Estrada in 2015.
