João Leno de Ocara is the stage name of João Leno Ferreira de Sousa, born in 1976 in the sertão region of Ceará, Brazil. He grew up with the sounds of traditional forró music around him, and started singing for people at local gatherings.
In 2010, he released his debut single "Minha Mulher Ligou," a song about a man dealing with a jealous wife. Its catchy melody and humorous lyrics connected with listeners, and it became a national hit. That song, along with others like "Chama Chama a Mulherada" and "Tu Tá Querendo É?," established his presence in Brazilian forró.
He has worked with other artists in the genre, including Wesley Safadão and Xand Avião. In 2019, there was a brief dispute over a melody in one of his songs, which was resolved.
