His self-titled debut album came out in 2002 with the single "The Impossible," and he followed it with records like "Man with a Memory" and "Real Things." Some of his later songs include "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off" and "Sunny and 75."
In 2005, Nichols released "If Nobody Believed in You," a ballad that became closely associated with him. He kept putting out albums through the 2010s, including "Crickets" in 2017. Nichols has worked with musicians like guitarist Jason Roller in his live band.
