Joe Sentieri was born in Naples in 1925. He sang in a choir as a boy and later performed with local bands at weddings and festivals. His career shifted when he met the musician Renato Carosone.
In 1955, Sentieri released "È mezzanotte," which became a hit. The song's melody drew some criticism for resembling an older Neapolitan tune. He kept recording, putting out songs like "Quando Vien La Sera" and "Ritroviamoci." His participation in the Sanremo Music Festival led to some accusations of commercialism.
Sentieri worked with the songwriter Antonio Amurri on tracks like "Il mondo" and "Bambina." He performed with a band that included guitarist Gino Guarino, bassist Antonio Esposito, and drummer Mario Borriello.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
