Joe Strummer was the frontman of The Clash, a band that formed in 1976 and mixed punk with reggae and rockabilly. He was born John Graham Mellor in 1952. The Clash's lineup included Mick Jones on guitar, Paul Simonon on bass, and Topper Headon on drums.
After The Clash, Strummer made solo records like "Earthquake Weather" and "Streetcore." Some of his later songs include "Trash City" and "Arms Aloft." He worked with other musicians too, including Bono and Johnny Cash.
Strummer's music often dealt with social and political themes. He kept writing about justice and human struggles until his death in 2002.
