Joe Welch was born in Texas in 1947. He moved to Hollywood in the late 1960s and joined a band called The Seven Souls. After his brother Dave died in a car accident, Welch started working as a solo artist in 1971.
His cover of "Ave Maria" came out in 1972 and became his best-known recording. He also released songs like "I Get It All" and "Lollipop." In the 1980s, Welch got into a legal fight over the rights to "Ave Maria."
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
