John Crist was born in 1984 and grew up in a devout Christian family. He started performing stand-up comedy and writing songs as a teenager. In 2012, he put out his first comedy album, "In the Room."
Alongside his comedy work, Crist released his debut music album in 2016 called "Check Your Heart." The title track from that album became a viral hit. In 2019, he faced accusations of sexual misconduct from multiple women, apologized, and stepped away from performing for a time. He returned to comedy and music in 2021.
