The Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist who makes his own kind of records.
For a sense of his solo voice, try 'Heaven' or 'Someone's'. They're the kind of songs that feel like they were written in a room by himself.
Frusciante's solo work feels like a different conversation than his Chili Peppers material. Songs like 'Heaven' and 'Someone's' are quieter and more fragmented, built around personal, direct lyrics. He's been making these records at his own pace since the mid-90s, and they don't sound like anything else he's known for.
He first joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers in the late 1980s, then left in 1992 while dealing with addiction. During that time he started releasing solo albums like 1994's 'The Will to Death'. He rejoined the band in 1998 after getting clean, but has kept making his own records separately ever since.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
