Suburban Girl

I wish I was a little suburban girl.

Lying on the rug playing with my curls.

With my lazy tabby cat stretched out next to me.

Cant think of anything much better to be.

On a november night, got all my homework done.

The love in my hearts unconditional; it weights a ton.

Daddy’s in his chair, drinking whisky and reading the news.

Mommy’s in the kitchen, what else is new?

And I'm dreaming a dream without closing my eyes

I’m an olympic figure skater winning top prize.

I’m playing carnegie hall, just me and my flute.

Or my teacher gets sick and I'm the substitute.

I write everything down in my secret diary.

Keep it safe and sound under lock and key.

I cant wait to grow up so I can read what I wrote.

And long for a time when I didnt yet know.

But I'm nothing but a man whos feelings his age,

And a heep of remorse for the drunken rage.

That pushed its way past his lips last night.

Set fire to the sky, blocked out all of the light

So a rug and a car and a november night.

Dont know about you, to me it sounds all right.

Its much better than what I’ve got right now,

Gotta keep my head up, see it through somehow.
