It seems so hard

this letting go

'though all hope is gone

as I drift, a distant planet,

on my way around some sun.

Can't get close.

Can't let go...

I want the warmth of morning light.

I long to hold you near,

while I'm spinning, dizzy in the night,

I'm coursed with cold and fear,

fear and cold,

caught in this hold...

Stars fill the skies,

but they fail to brighten my night.

Blind are my eyes;

they've been fixed far too long on your light.

It seems that I go round and round,

my path a strange ellipse.

These repeated patterns get me down,

yet I fear a full eclipse.

Can't get close;

can't let go...

I feel your fear

when I draw near.

Are you frightened by my pain,

by your needs, or words?

Year after year

you draw me back again.

It seems as though

you won't let go.

Nighttime unfolds

with its silence,

so steady and cold.

As stars grow old

do the planets nearby

loose their hold?

It seems so hard
