Archive material and source history
John Reis came up in San Diego's punk scene in the late 1980s. He's best known as the frontman for Rocket from the Crypt, a band that mixed punk, rock, and surf into a high-energy live show. Their 1995 album 'Scream, Dracula, Scream!' got a lot of attention.
After Rocket from the Crypt ended around 2000, Reis started Hot Snakes. That band leaned into a more aggressive, post-hardcore sound on records like 'Suicide Invoice' in 2002 and 'Audit in Progress' in 2004. They broke up in 2005 but later reunited.
Reis has also put out solo material, including a song called 'Terrinha.' His work tends to avoid easy categories, pulling from different styles without settling into one signature thing.
