Archive material and source history
John Schneider grew up in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and started singing in local clubs. He was listening to Otis Redding and Waylon Jennings around that time. In 1979, he began playing Bo Duke on the television show The Dukes of Hazzard, which brought him a different kind of audience.
A few years later, in 1984, he put out a song called "I've Been Around Enough to Know." It did well on the country charts. Other songs from that period include "At the Sound of the Tone" and "A Woman's Touch." He kept recording after that, though the existing notes on his later albums and collaborations are incomplete.
