Johnny Logan was born John Roger Logan in Dublin in 1954. His father Terence was a tenor, and his mother Carmel encouraged his early interest in music. He started playing in a teenage band called The Chips during the 1960s.
Logan's solo career took shape in 1980 with his debut album 'In London.' That same year, he won the Eurovision Song Contest for Ireland with 'What's Another Year.' He returned to Eurovision in 1987 with 'Hold Me Now,' which won the contest again and became a major international hit.
Beyond those Eurovision successes, Logan recorded other songs like 'I'm not in love' and 'Love Hurt.' His career included some personal and financial difficulties in the early 1990s.
