Johnny Lozada started in music as a teenager, joining the Puerto Rican boy band Menudo when he was 13. He sang on songs like "Súbete a Mi Moto" and "Claridad" during his five years with the group, which toured widely across the Americas and Europe. After leaving in 1985, he put out a self-titled solo album that went platinum in the U.S. and Latin America, led by the single "Tu No Me Quieres."
His solo work kept a steady pace through the late '80s and early '90s with albums like "Tiempo de Amar," "Un Nuevo Amanecer," and "Baila Conmigo." He often recorded duets, including "Cuando Estemos Juntos" with Tatiana and "Detente" as another duo with her. Another collaboration, "Esas Pequeñas Cosas," featured Silvia Lomelí & Cómplices.
In 2004, Lozada was arrested for driving under the influence, an incident that led to a public apology and a break from music. He later returned to recording, putting out albums like "Me Siento Bien."
