Johnny Maestro was born John Mastrangelo in 1939. He started singing with The Crests in the early 1960s, and that group had hits with "Sixteen Candles" and "Step by Step." After The Crests broke up, he went solo and put out his first album in 1972.
Other songs from his catalog include "My Radio," "Sweet Lady Night," and "Worst That Could Happen."
Later in the 1980s, he worked with former Brooklyn Bridge vocalist Leslie West in a group called West, B.
