Jok'Air

Jok'Air formed in the Paris suburbs around 2014 as a collective of young musicians working in hip-hop. Their sound mixed rap with touches of soul, pop, and electronic music, which didn't always sit well with purists early on. They kept at it through live shows and collaborations.

Things shifted in 2017 when they put out the single 'Abdomen,' a track about personal and social pressures that connected with listeners across France. That song helped push their self-titled debut album to number one on the French charts. They followed it with albums like 'L'Autre Monde' in 2019 and 'Ennemi Public' in 2021.

Their lyrics often lean into raw, introspective territory, touching on mental health, addiction, and inequality. That directness has drawn criticism at times, but it's also built them a dedicated audience. Songs like 'Maintenant' and 'Squale' carry that same unvarnished quality.
