Archive material and source history
Jon Foreman grew up in San Diego and started writing songs early. In 1996, he formed Switchfoot with his brother Tim and friends Chad Butler and Jerome Fontamillas. The band's name came from a surfing term.
Switchfoot's 2003 album "The Beautiful Letdown" brought them wider attention. Songs like "Your Love Is Strong" from their 2005 album became staples in their catalog, known for their melodic reach and direct lyrics about faith and doubt.
Foreman has also released solo material, including songs like "Jesus, I Have My Doubts" and "The Cure For Pain." In 2006, he was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and took a break from the band before returning.
