Jonathan McReynolds

Jonathan McReynolds grew up in Chicago, where music became a way to process what he saw around him. He put out his first album, 'Life Music,' in 2012, and a song from it called 'No Gray' got some attention. His later work includes albums like 'Make Room' from 2018, which gave him the title track, and 'People' from 2020.

His songs, such as 'God Is Good' and 'Cycles,' tend to work with straightforward, soulful vocals over arrangements that don't get in the way of the message. He's recorded with other artists, including Mali Music on 'Movin' On' and Tori Kelly, but he performs as a solo act with a regular backing band.

In 2016, his public support for the Black Lives Matter movement drew some criticism from more conservative listeners. He kept making music that addressed faith and personal reflection, like the song 'Grace,' without shifting from that conversational, grounded approach.
