Joost Belinfante

Joost Belinfante was a Dutch musician who formed a band under his own name in 1969. The group included Jan Koekkoek on bass and Jaap van den Berg on drums, playing what was described as raw, energetic music with provocative lyrics that found a cult audience.

In 1973, they released the song "1000 Bommen," which became their most well-known work. It resonated with listeners disillusioned by the Vietnam War.

Belinfante's music often addressed social and political themes, and he faced criticism from authorities for his outspoken lyrics. The band released several albums in the 1970s, including their self-titled debut in 1969, the "1000 Bommen" album in 1973, and later records like "Weet Waar Je Staat" in 1975 and "Moet Je Me Nu Alweer Hebben" in 1976.
