He started singing young, influenced by the traditional rhythms around him, and turned professional after winning a local competition in the late 1980s. In 1995, he lost his right eye in a car accident but kept performing.
His song 'No Podrán Separarnos' became a signature track, and he's known for others like 'Esta Vida' and 'Te Perdoné'. He's released albums including 'Parranda en el Cielo' in 1992, 'Distinto y Diferente' in 1994, and 'El Jorgeador' in 2000. In 2010, 'Esta Vida' drew some criticism for its lyrics, which Celedón defended as reflecting life in his region.
He's worked with artists like Juanes, Shakira, and Carlos Vives. His band, La Fuerza Vallenata, includes Jimmy Zambrano on accordion, Gustavo García on bass, Iván Zuleta on box, and Javier Matta on timbales.
