Jorge Villamizar

Jorge Villamizar is a Colombian singer-songwriter from Bogotá who started out in the 1970s with a local band called Los Hispanos. He went solo in 1984 with his debut album 'El Rosario,' but it was his second album two years later that really defined his career. That album was named after its title track, 'Enredadera,' which became his signature song.

'Enredadera' came out in 1986 and connected with listeners in a way that stuck. The song has a haunting melody and lyrics about a love that's tangled up like a vine. It's the kind of track people remember, and it's still one of the songs he's known for, along with others like 'Te viví' and 'Alma En Libertad.'

In the early 1990s, Villamizar faced some public allegations of plagiarism, which he denied. That period was rough on his reputation for a while, but he kept working. He's continued to record and perform since then, putting out music that builds on the sound he established back in the '80s.
