Jorge y Balbino Gomez started playing corridos in the early 1990s, with Jorge on lead vocals and accordion and Balbino handling second vocals and bass. They built their audience playing local bars before their song 'Duele Pero No Mata' caught on in 1992. That track became their most recognizable work, along with others like 'Amigos Con Derecho' and 'Aunque Ya No Sea Conmigo'.

Their lyrics often dealt plainly with heartbreak and difficult relationships, which some listeners found too raw or explicit.
