Stuck On Dreams

two little ladies sat eating their biscuits

waiting for the wind to change

each wore a hat with a ribbon tied on it

sighing at the heat of the day

left turned to right one and asked what you thinking

are you thinking 'bout the end of the day?

no i am thinking of the place i would travel

somewhere i could hide away

i'd fill a hamper with fruitcake and jam

with slices of turkey and rum

and build a small boat with two sails on it

and ride through the waves into the sun

singing a tune

two little ladies sat knitting their jumpers

waiting for the wind to change

each wore a necklace with matching gold earrings

sighing at the heat of the day

right turned to left one and asked what you thinking?

are you thinking 'bout the end of the day?

no i am dreaming of where i would go to

somewhere i could hide away

i'd pack a suitcase with stashes of gin

and fly to the edge of the world

and build a castle with seventeen bathrooms

and dance round the floor, with my eyes shut tight

singing a tune

two little ladies sat wishing their wishes

waiting for the wind to change

each hoped their secrets wouldn't have to stay secrets

hoping they'll come true one day

but for now we'll take a bus into town

and sit by the pond with the birds

and mumble together and tap our frail fingers

and listen to you, playing your song

singing your tune
