Running Fast

And I suppose you call it lazy

But look at all these ants

The ones that pack the biggest punch

Are those in hot demand

With demand becoming greater

For those who listened well

Not to those who told them to

But to the dying ants who'd tell

Of the times, that they watched pass

Like a train locked into runaway and running way too fast

Although, we're told to put in

Well putting in is just half of what you're told when you begin

And I suppose we told our babies

What our fathers told us

But the generations blur the faces

Of what we'd become

And every time that blur resurfaces

The trains going too fast

And the times that we'd watched roll by

Working harder in the dark

But the times, that they watched pass

Like a train locked into runaway and running way too fast

And although, we're told to put in

Well putting in is just half of what you're told when you begin

Oh, boy

You're working yourself too hard

And oh, the noise

Beats into my brain with my heart

But my, heart

Is less full with each stop

Until the stops become what we wanted

The train won't be slowing up

Before the train malfunctioned and was ambling past
