Archive material and source history
Jovens De Excelência formed in 1990 in São Paulo with five musicians. They started playing in local churches and built a following that grew through the mid-1990s. Their song "Miriã" became particularly well-known.
In 2002, founding member Acauã Júnior left the group. Later, around 2010, lead singer Alex Gonzaga faced sexual misconduct allegations that affected the band's standing. They added new members and released the album "Recomeço" in 2013.
The group has included musicians like Alessandro Guedes on bass, Caio Campos on drums, and vocalists Bruna Carla and Priscilla Alcantara. They've put out more than a dozen albums since the 1990s, including "Ressuscita-me" in 2004 and "Promessas" in 2019.
