JPG formed in Lisbon around 2018 with Ricardo Vasconcelos on vocals and guitar, Pedro Correia on bass, and Tiago Miranda on drums. Their name comes from combining 'Jupiter' and 'Perseus,' which fits with some of the cosmic imagery in their work.
Their debut album '4 Cantos' came out in 2020, and the title track became their most recognizable song. Other tracks like 'Agora é Pouco' and 'Batendo Na Minha Porta' show their mix of post-rock textures with ambient and electronic touches.
They've kept a fairly low profile as a band, and their sound tends toward the atmospheric and experimental rather than straightforward rock. The music often deals with emotional themes, but they let the arrangements and Vasconcelos's vocals carry that weight instead of leaning on grand statements.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
