Jr Amancio

Jr Amancio came up in Mexico City, where he started going by "Jr." as a nod to his father, who was also a musician. His first big break came in 1996 with the single "Enfermo de Amor," a romantic ballad that connected with listeners across Latin America and helped establish his name.

His music often worked with traditional Mexican sounds and pop arrangements, leaning into themes of love and heartache. Beyond "Enfermo de Amor," he put out albums like Dos Corazones in 1998 and Alma Mía in 2000, keeping a steady output through the early 2000s.

In 2002, Amancio was arrested on drug charges, which drew public attention and some backlash. He later addressed those experiences in his songwriting, touching on addiction and personal struggle in his material from that period.
