Jujuba e Os Chicletes formed in 1993 in Belém, Brazil, with Jujuba on vocals. They started playing local venues and festivals, working through the usual early struggles of a new band. Their debut album came out in 1997, titled after the song 'Caminho do Mar,' which became a hit and helped them reach a national audience.
That first album mixed pop with samba and axé rhythms, a sound that carried through much of their work. They went on to release several more albums, including 'Sol' in 2000 and 'Samba pra Todo Mundo' in 2006. Other songs like 'Cura-te' and 'Não Quero Mais' became part of their setlists.
The band's lineup included guitarist André Ramos, bassist Ronaldo Gonçalves, drummer Rogério Oliveira, and backing vocalist Zé Neto alongside Jujuba. They kept performing and recording through the 2000s, with albums like 'Paz e Alegria' arriving in 2010.
