Jukabala

Jukabala formed in 2008 around vocalist Rafael Almeida and guitarist Fernando Gonçalves, with bassist Rodrigo Almeida and drummer Rodrigo Lopes completing the quartet. Their music pulls from MPB, samba, and rock, with songs like 'Nós Dois' and 'Juliana' showing their range from ballads to more rhythmic pieces.

In 2010 they released their self-titled debut album, which established their sound. A few years later, in 2012, they dealt with plagiarism allegations over a song called 'Tão Real' that were eventually dismissed. They kept working after that, putting out tracks like 'Mulher Orgulhosa' and 'Correr o Mundo' that continued to draw on Brazilian traditions while feeling current.

Their catalog includes songs that work as both thoughtful listening and danceable rhythms, with 'Costume' being another example of that balance. The band's lineup has remained consistent since those early days, with each member contributing to arrangements that feel lived-in rather than overly polished.
